What Is the Typical Botox Treatment Timeline?
Duration: 30 minutes
Downtime: 1 day
Frequency: Every 3-4 months
Treatment Plan: Every 3-4 months + optional touch-ups
Medical Wait Time: 2 weeks
What Are the Benefits of Botox?
Botox reduces the appearance of moderate to severe forehead lines, crow’s feet lines, frown lines, and square jaw for 3 – 4 months. It is a safe procedure that can be used alongside other facial treatments to restore a more youthful look. It is also popular for preventing wrinkles, square jaw, and TMJ.
How Does It Work?
Using a purified protein complex derived from the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum type A, Botox temporarily blocks the release of acetylcholine at the nerve endings, preventing the contraction of muscles. The muscles become relaxed, and it reduces the appearance of wrinkles in the treated areas. Treating the masseter muscles results in a slimming effect.
Who is a Good Candidate?
Healthy adults 18+ who:
- Have moderate to severe facial wrinkles.
- Have wrinkles in treatable areas including: around or between the eyes, on the forehead, or around the nose.
- Desire a slimmer jaw.
- Experience pain from TMJ.
What Can I Expect?
The practitioner will work with the member on a full facial assessment. At this time, the areas and goals of treatment will be determined. The non-injection and injection sites will be identified. The application has been described as a small pinching sensation.
After the procedure, members may experience redness, swelling, feeling of “heaviness” or headache. Typically, there is no recovery time, however it is recommended to stay in a vertical position for 4 hours following the injections and to avoid working out or consuming alcohol for 24 hours.
Members will begin to see the Botox effects of muscle relaxation within several days. It will take up to 2 weeks after treatment for the full and best results and will last on average of 3-4 months.
It is recommended to schedule regular appointments to ensure long term results.
